An anagram for earth is heart...
Over this summer equinox period here in Australia, and close to our festive seasons, I’m going back and forth between focusing on the natural and the material. In between gathering gifts, I’m checking that plants have enough water to get them through hot, dry days. Love of people and the earth, together, feels right, right now.
This anagram title came to me last year, and now seemed to be a good time to add some words and images. There are so many ways to understand the connection between the earth and hearts. Having gratitude for the earth providing everything that we, and plants and animals share to be alive, is just one line of appreciation.
The water and sunlight visible in these images of red cabbage leaves reminds me of some of the simplest ways we are connected to the earth (and the sun). My own heart sang when I was outside just after dawn, seeing the cabbage leaf holding droplets of water. The leaves seemed to caress each drop on their slightly furry surfaces. Saving each drop for later, nothing wasted. The beauty I witnessed, seeing the drops and the reflections in their surfaces. Feeling connected to nature can be as subtle as this, and no less remarkable.
Wishing you all happy festive seasons, and a peaceful new year.
